I've been wanting one of these lamps for a long time. I promised myself as soon as the price got within my range, it would be mine. So many people had good things to say about the WBM brand as well, I kept looking at those lamp options. I am SO glad that I bought it. It arrived today. The box had a tear in the lid. The lamp had a chunk broken off of it as well. (A fairly substantial piece, yet I did not feel it mattered enough to return the lamp. See photos.) The lamp is MUCH heavier than I had expected, so that was a surprise. You would definitely not want to place this where it could be knocked off or tipped over easily, or over a glass shelf. In our case, we have curious cats, so its final place will need to be where the cats cannot rub on it and tip it over or knock it off onto something else. The base is very sturdy and looks nice. Mine is a medium brown tone and would fit in about any décor. I love the natural look of the lamp. (I have photos of the lamp both on and off - please check the additional photos in the item description.) I really look forward to seeing how it looks at night in a dark room. Some of the things in the tiny print in the usage manual include not using it outside, and to always use a placemat or coaster due to the salt "sweating" and possibly damaging furniture. Right now, mine is on a surface that won't matter, but it is worth mentioning, in case you might have plans to place it on a good end table or bookcase. In my case, this is going to be in my bedroom, and I already have an orange bedspread, so it fits right in. However, I would love this no matter what colors I had in my room. The height and size varies naturally, so no two lamps will be alike. Mine is approximately 8.25" tall (including the base), and fits well into the bedroom. It seems to be about 4.5" wide. I love all the natural crags and crevaces of the lamp. The backside of mine is flat, but that's okay too. I am using the original night light (which is replaceable either to change colors or replace a burned out light), and the lamp gives off a very pleasant orange/peach glow. I like just looking at it too, and will probably stare at it a little more in the dark! Ha! As far as freshening the air with the negative ions - it is too soon to tell, so I'll update my review once I feel we've had time to feel a difference. Our bedroom is not huge (maybe 10x11), so 2-3 weeks should be enough time to feel any breathing differences. Both my daughter and I have asthma and allergies. The cats are in and out of here all day long as well, so anything it can do to help is going to be great. I've read both good and bad about the negative ion thing and asthma, so I have placed it away from where my head will actually be in bed. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, and will probably be buying more as the money allows. The look alone is enough to please me, and I do hope the salt lives up to the claims on the air freshening. UPDATE AUG 2011: We now have THREE of these lamps. Yes, they seem to do that much good for the air quality. We have a very small place, and despite changing the filters monthly, is the most dusty place in which I've ever lived. Since using these lamps, I no longer experience that burning in my sinuses that I had before. Each lamp received has been very different, with the last one being the lightest in color. However, as long as they are all a chunk of the salt, and they do their job, I can live with that. I want to get a smaller one for our bathroom as well. NOTE: When replacing the bulbs, they use a bulb just like a Christmas tree light. HOWEVER - most holiday lights are only 4 watts. You will NOT get the air purifying effect with that - it will be a decorative light only. The salt has to get warm to help filter the air, and that only happens with a 15-watt bulb. They are available in 2-packs at WalMart, and I am sure many other places. Just check on your wattage if your lamp does not seem to be doing much.

It's a beautiful lamp that is very pleasing to look at, and its heavy. I like the dimmer switch which allows you to make it as bright or dimmer, this is a great added bonus. Its important that air can circulate under the lamp, and it should be placed where it can't fall over because it will break. If you have children, or pets place it where they can't knock it over because it could cause injury or death due to the weight of it if it falls on your child or pet. Accidental injury can also be caused if a pet or child can get to the cord. I came across this item while I was looking at other items on Amazon, and I did a lot of reading on salt lamps that are suppose to be beneficial for a variety of health issues. I read ALL of the instructions which I recommend everyone do, and its suggested that you clean the lamp, and keep it wrapped while not in use. Its very easy to clean, and NEVER should be immerged in water. This is a dust collector, and does get dirty. I clean it by holding it sideways under water to rinse it off, and I use a soft cloth. The directions enclosed with the lamp said that in order for the lamp to work it has to become heated. The price of these lamps jump significantly as you increase the size, and there are several styles to choose from, and enclosed with the lamp was a brochure and several pictures of various lamps. The weight, and size of the lamp is printed on the bottom of the box which is very easy to read, and the lamp was carefully packed, and wrapped. I'm planning on keeping the box which has a huge picture of the item on the outside of the box. The instructions also clearly explain how many lamps you need for the size of the room that you have. I plan on buying several more of these lamps which can be used for meditation. I read some of the reviews by other buyers, and this is a pretty bright lamp, its not meant to be used like an ordinary lamp, nor is it dim as one person wrote. There are smaller lamps than this one but the cost to buy the little ones didn't make sense to me. No two lamps are alike, so its like owning a little piece of artwork. I love unusual, and unique items, and this is certainty one of them. I will update this review when sufficient time has passed to let others know how effective this is as far as cleaning the air. Even if it doesn't do as stated. I'm very pleased with my purchase, I'm going to use it in the bedroom, and turn it on every night before I go to sleep to see if helps my sleep. I haven't decided where I'm going to place it yet but I plan on putting it where I can easily adjust the dimmer, and see it especially at nighttime.

I wanted a lamp for my bedroom because I was sick of having to either sit in the dark or have the extremely bright light on all the time. So I looked up "bedroom lamp" on Amazon and this was one of the first results. I love minerals and crystals of all kinds so the appearance immediately made me take a look. I loved the idea of a lamp made out of salt with health benefits. I read about how this lamp works and decided to give it a try. I ordered it on Saturday morning around 10 AM and it was delivered the next day at 11 AM. Amazing. I have Amazon prime and was expecting to get it monday and was pleasantly surprised that it had been delivered a day early. It got to me within 24 hours of ordering, A+++ service. It was wrapped up so tight it took me about 10 minutes to get past the many barriers (boxes with lots of tape and then bubble wrap covered with tape. I'm too stubborn to actually get a scissors but I was pleased with how the lamp comes packaged. You would basically have to drop it off the empire state building to break it and even then the solid packaging still keeps it safe and secure. Although I can understand the other commentors that mentioned reviving damaged lamps because remember, it is made of salt and is breakable when shuffled around too much. I took it out and it was in perfect condition, plugged it in and fell in love. Hard. This lamp is exactly what you need in your life. I am completely serious. When I look at this lamp I feel calm and convertible. It almost gives me a gentle hug when I look at it. So calming and beautiful. It gives off a pinkish/orange glow that is so pretty you won't want to look away. I honestly can't describe how it looks because I can't think of words to adequately describe its amazing benefits and beauty. I love sleeping with it on next to me and I've been sleeping so much better. I love it and so does everyone who sees it. I plan on getting one for all my loved ones at Christmas time!!!! :) the dimmer makrs the lamp even more enjoyable as it allows you to choose what degree of light you feel like. So when I'm ready for bed I turn it down low so it only gives off a soft warm glow. I leave it on all day and dim it higher and lower depending on my mood or the weather. I'm so glad I found this! I love it so much that I couldn't wait very long to buy another one, so I did 5 days after receiving my first one. My lamps make my bedroom feel calm and soothing. I also bought the Himalayan salt candles and placed electric flickering tea lights in them so I can leave them on all the time along with my lamps. I love love love Himalayan salt lamps!!!!! I will be a forever customer and definitely see myself purchasing more in the future. I don't know about the supposed health benefits, but these lamps do in fact benefit benefit me in the sense that I feel very happy, calm and relaxed when looking at or being close to them. So as far as I'm concerned, they absolutely do benefit my health! I'm a clinical psychologist and I do believe that these impact my metal health in a very positive way. I will be recommending Himalayan salt lamps to everyone I know (I already have!!!!) very unique and beautiful

This is a wonderful, very lovely and beautiful salt lamp. It's just the height and width I was hoping for, and with the light on it adds so much warmth to my office. The only downside to it for me is the light switch; I prefer a dimmer switch with a circle part - like the one pictured in many people's reviews - as it's very easy to adjust the light that way. However, the one I received is a touch one that requires you to continually press the switch for the light to dim, which is very inconvenient (if I let go of the switch but decide I want to adjust the light's brightness, as soon as I press it again the light goes to maximum brightness). As for shipping and packaging, the box was damaged in one corner very badly upon arrival, though the lamp itself was undamaged. Overall, I feel quite good about this purchase. (I still really wish I was given a different dimmer switch, though - that would bring this to a 5-star rating.)

If I could give the WBM company where this Himalayan Salt Lamp comes from a ZERO star review, I would! They do not care about their customers at all! I bought 2 of these Salt Lamps, a Himalayan Salt Chunk Basket, and 4 Himalayan Tea Light Candle Holders from this company all in one day! The Himalayan Salt Chunk Basket came first. These items are EXTREMELY heavy.......a lot heavier than I thought they would be. Anyway, after opening the box and unpackaging the item (which is packaged in many different layers), I set out the lamp and plugged it in. Much to my dismay, the light did not work in my Salt Lamp. I turned the dimmer switch up and down a couple of times and it turned on for a minute and then turned off again. I found that if I had the dimmer switch in just the right position, it worked. But, as soon as I moved it just a tiny bit, it would turn off again. I do not want a plug/dimmer switch/bulb that works some of the time, I want one that works ALL of the time! Then I looked at all of the salt chunks in the basket. All of the WBM products claim to give off an AMBER glow. For the few minutes that my Salt Lamp was on, I noticed that the Salt Chunks were mainly white with a few pink chunks thrown in. Those were my two main issues with the Himalayan Salt Chunk Basket. Then, the next day my 4 Himalayan Salt Tea Light Candle Holders and 2 of the #1002 Himalayan Salt Lamps arrived! The box was so heavy.......I would say at least 30 pounds. I got everything out, unpackaged the products for about a half an hour because of how many layers they are wrapped in and looked at everything. The two Salt Lamps looked beautiful! Two of the Tea Light Candle Holders were pink and two of the Tea Light Candle Holders were a dirty white color like you would see in the snow in the winter. One of the white ones looked like it was nearly cut right in half. Now, I understand that Himalayan Salt is a naturally occurring substance and that each product will be a bit different, but these tea light candle holders varied not only in color, but in weight. I would say that they can vary by up to a pound or two. Yes, they are that different. I put tea light candles in all four of the tea light holders and 2 of them were a beautiful amber color (as stated on ALL WBM products), and two of them looked like salt that was put on the road after a heavy snow......DIRTY WHITE! I was happy with the two pink tea light candle holders but VERY UNHAPPY with the other two! Then I went to plug in the two Salt Lamps. Well, one of the plug/dimmer switch/bulbs was smashed at the dimmer switch and did not turn on at all! I plugged in the other Salt Lamp and although it's plug/dimmer switch/bulb was not smashed, it did not work either!!! OMG! I ORDERED 7 PRODUCTS FROM THIS COMPANY AND ONLY 2 OF THE TEA LIGHT CANDLE HOLDERS WERE AS DESCRIBED! The other 2 were dirty white in color and one was carved practically in half. NONE OF MY HIMALAYAN SALT LAMPS WORKED BECAUSE OF THE DIMMER SWITCHES!!!! I was VERY disappointed! I called Amazon and told a Customer Service Rep. what was going on and she provided me with WBM's Customer Service Number. I called it and talked to one of WBM's Customer Service Reps. He said that I had to email WBM after he took down notes on every single issue that I had with my WBM products. So, I wrote to WBM. I waited a couple of days and received NO RESPONSE. I resent my original email to WBM again........STILL NO RESPONSE! I wrote to WBM a third time telling them that I needed 3 new plug/dimmer switches/bulbs, a new bag of salt chunks for the Salt Basket Lamp, and 2 of the 4 Tea Light Candle Holders replaced. I was expecting all of these FREE OF CHARGE because I was clearly sent DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS! I got a response stating that I would receive the 3 plug/dimmer switches/bulbs free of charge, but that they did not replace Salt Chunks (Even though they were mainly dirty and white) and they would not replace the 2 Tea Light Candle Holders free of charge! I was asked for my address and told that the three dimmer switches would be sent to me. AT THIS POINT, I AM JUST FUMING MAD! I PAID $75 FOR DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS AND WBM WAS ONLY GOING TO SEND ME THE 3 DIMMER SWITCHES FREE OF CHARGE! I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT WBM DOES NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT SALT CHUNKS! REALLY? WHERE DO YOU GET THE SALT CHUNKS FOR ALL OF YOUR OTHER SALT CHUNK BASKETS? AND THE 2 TEA LIGHT CANDLE HOLDERS THAT ARE DIRTY AND WHITE AND CARVED INCORRECTLY COST $10.00 FOR BOTH OF THEM TOGETHER AS I BOUGHT THE TWO PACK! SO WBM EXPECTS ME TO SHIP BACK THE TWO DIRTY WHITE TEA LIGHT CANDLE HOLDERS THAT WEIGH SO MUCH THAT IT WOULD COST ME MORE IN SHIPPING THAN I PAID FOR THEM! WHAT A JOKE! IT HAS BEEN TWO WEEKS SINCE MY ORIGINAL EMAIL WAS SENT TO WBM AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY 3 FREE PLUGS/DIMMER SWITCHES/BULBS!!!!! WBM SELLS DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS AND CLEARLY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! The one good thing I can say is that Amazon went ahead and replaced my two dirty white Tea Light Candle Holders FREE OF CHARGE and did not make me send the ones that I have back! The second two were much better! I WOULD SHIP EVERY SINGLE SALT LAMP AND TEA LIGHT CANDLE HOLDER RIGHT BACK IF IT WEREN'T FOR THEIR CONSIDERABLE WEIGHT AND FACT THAT I AM AFRAID THE LAMPS WOULD BREAK DURING RETURN SHIPPING! WBM........GET A CLUE! CUSTOMER SERVICE ALWAYS COMES FIRST AND YOU HAVE NOT DONE ONE THING FOR ME TO HELP ME WITH ALL OF THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS THAT I HAVE RECEIVED!

Well wrapped nice light, but be aware there is no plug for the wall. It needs a USB block.

When my dad was first diagnosed with cancer, I did everything I could to help make sure the areas around him were clean and full of positive energy. When I got him this, he wanted it by his bed. He said the glow was the perfect night light for him and it wasn't bulky or in his way and it was easy for him to turn off an on. He loved the color. He liked how heavy it was and put together. He said "this is strong piece of salt!" There isn't a remote put there is dimmer dial on it. It functioned perfectly for him and he never turned it off. Mom still keeps it on as it brings her comfort since he crossed over 2-26-2024.
