Delightfully delicious
This cheese is a different taste that is Delicious and creamy texture that brings back childhood memories for me. Being born up north my mom would always have Limburger cheese to snack on but the aroma isn't for everyone. It's absolutely one of my favorites! At a young age our family moved down south and in the south Limburger cheese isn't available especially in the rural southern cities so unfortunately my favorite cheese was just a memory of them days up north. During the time I grew up online shopping wasn't available. So much to my surprise I accidentally found Limburger cheese on Amazon! Spectacular value for the money and to have it shipped to me! I ordered it right away and anxiously waited for it to come and not expecting to get the Limburger cheese like my mom used to have but hopeful. It was delivered and packed in a temperature controlled package and when I opened it I couldn't believe my eyes! This is the Limburger cheese I had as a child and let me say I probably acted like a kid trying to open it! Perfect temperature and aged like it should be, delicious aroma made my taste buds go back in time. I love this cheese and will order it again and again! If you want some aged creamy texture aroma cheese this is it! The ageing in the refrigerator doesn't dry out as long as you keep it wrapped up. Try it and see how delicious it is! All these years later and finding Limburger cheese was just a wonderful surprise!

Tasty but too mild
No where near as strong as the Mohawk Limburger that used to be made.

The Official Cheese of the 3 Stooges!
I had to try Limburger. I grew up watching its odor make people pass out from the stink on the 3 Stooges. It smells like a dirty foot, that has never been washed, and one that has an untreated case of athletes foot. The trick is getting it to your mouth without inhaling that smell, and once it's in your mouth, your enzymes make it explode with flavor. The package has a table that shows you the 3 phases of its flavor based upon how long you've had it. It's an active culture cheese, so the flavor and character of the cheese is always changing as it ages. They ship it fresh. ( and your shipping might be delayed a week or so until the next fresh batch is ready) IMO it's Best to open it right away and experience all 3 phases! Will order again! Shipping is expensive because they're the only cheese maker in the USA that still make it, and it ships in a cool-pak.

Every bit as stinky as the cartoons imply
Going in, I knew limburger cheese had a reputation for being stinky, but holy hell! It's like being stuck in an elevator with someone with horrid body odor. When I opened the box, the cooling pack didn't seem so cool. (Maybe understandable since it took a few days to arrive?) I stuck it in the fridge and a few hours later, put a glove on (Did I mention that it can be hard to get the stench out of your hands? And then the odor transfers over to anything you touch...) and spread a bit on some crackers. It didn't really have much taste to it....it was actually kind of remarkable. (Maybe it went bad?) The aftertaste however made me want to drink a bottle of mouthwash. As someone who likes things a lot of people don't (sardines, pickled herring, Flaming hot Mountain Dew, pickled pig's feet), I had to give limburger a try. I probably won't again....not at that price. Maybe if I was at a restaurant that served it on a sandwich, I'd be brave. But unfortunately(?), this particular cheese doesn't seem to be available locally and only a couple of places in the US still produce limburger, apparently. Don't know if I'd want to subject my fridge to having limburger inside of it again. If it was a living thing, it would probably run away from home.
