Ultimately disappointed
One can be only so poetic about a drain. You ask three things of it, that: it has a good finish, doesn't leak and holds water when asked. I bought and installed two of them, and so far this one does all three. For the record, being old school, I did not use the upper, rubber washer that comes with the drain, but rather used plumber's putty, so no comment on that element. 3-WEEKS LATER: EVALUATION DOWN-RATED Both drains began leaking. Why they waited 3 weeks to both begin leaking is a mystery, likely a change in our usage pattern. The cause of the leaks, it appears, is that each one arrived missing an essential part, a large washer that would traditionally be sandwiched between the lower rubber seal and the securing nut that tightens the whole assembly into the sink. Without that washer, as the nut is tightened, it is directly against the rubber and the sideways component of its motion as it is tightened potentially distorts the rubber seal, which it apparently did in our case. I had to go to a plumbing supplier to find suitable big, brass washers. Now, as the nut is tightened, all the force is upward where it should be. There is no torque against the rubber which can distort it. One further precaution against leaks taken: applied pipe dope around the threads. I would not buy one of these again, and if they leak again, I will replace both of them.

It's nice. We needed to replace the first one because it broke the first time I pressed it down. The new one I received is so far so good after about a month.

Leaks.
I bought 2 of these for newer bathroom vanity they both leaked at where the tailstock connects to the main basket. Tightening with a large wrench slowed one up but still leaks around rubber seal.
