Review: Lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks after 8 years of trying. - Holy cow, I had great success with this book!!! I’ve been quarantining at home since March and I thought I was eating really well but I hadn’t lost any weight. And I didn’t understand it. I was doing weight watchers, I was eating all natural foods, not too many grains. What was I doing wrong? Was it the glass of wine I had every night to get through distance-learning with two children and having a full-time career? This book sat in a pile for about a year (the metabolism over 40 made me buy it, the unexpected christian angle made me a little uncomfortable as a secular Jew) and I was about to throw it away as I was cleaning out the apartment when I said, you know what I’ll give it a shot. Let me strip everything out of my diet and build it back up. So I read it and while it is was extremely strict I’m OK with that, I’m good at following strict diets and I understand a lot about nutrition. It’s not super prescriptive, so for people who aren’t used to following diets I could see how you’d have a lot of questions, but I got the gist of it pretty easily. The religious commentary wasn’t so pervasive in the end. I lost almost 10 pounds in the first phase. I mean this is 10 pounds I’ve been trying to lose for eight years and I lost it in two weeks. And have kept it off for two months. I cannot explain what a big thing this was. I weigh less now than I have in the eight years since I had my second child. The arthritis in my thumb is gone and the ganglion cyst in my wrist that I’ve had for years has been significantly reduced! I also don’t have the acid feeling in my stomach all the time. I follow the plan precisely. I gave up caffeine the first two weeks (which gave me an excruciating headache on the first day) and I put my head down and (had faith!) and just did it. I even did the 12/12 fasting and was able to get 15/9 or even 16/8 these days with just coffee in the morning. I am now 2 months in and have lost around 12-15. The one issue is constipation I am trying to figure out because that wasn’t an issue before. I made a bunch of the recipes, which are really good and the key to getting through the first two weeks. Chocolate bliss and berry compote being my go-tos. They need a recipe book! I definitely craved wine during the first two weeks, I went from having a glass of wine every night to relax, to no wine for six weeks to now maybe one glass a week with no problem. And no weight gain. I don’t start thinking about wine at 11 o’clock in the morning anymore (given during COVID you really don’t know what time it is anyway). Anyway I feel so even, I have no cravings, I feel so good that I really really will work to stick to this for many years and hope I can lose another 30 pounds. So while I have 83 diet books on my shelf and have been doing weight watchers since I was 15 I have to say for this time in my life as a woman over 50 with a full-time career and two children it has worked for me. I’d say possibly a really big key to my success is that I now weigh myself every day, so if I gain a pound or two in water weight I adjust and then lose it the next day. For years I was weighing myself once a week or not weighing myself at all, and I realize that that doesn’t work for me. So I really, really, really recommend this book. For losing weight and overall health benefits. It is sane and doable. Good luck you can do it!
Review: Thank you for writing this book! - I’m a 48 year old nurse practitioner (family) who has struggled on and off with weight through the years. I am also a woman of faith and believe whole-heartedly in the power of prayer and what a Godly self-image should look like. 2020 was crazy for so many people including myself. The last year has been the toughest. I lost my father unexpectedly at the beginning of 2020 and then the crazy pandemic hit. I was not motivated to exercise or eat well as my whole life started looking different as it did for so many others this past year. The pounds crept on quickly. I am now down 14 pounds week 7 into Eat, Live, Thrive plan and feel the best that I have felt in a very long time. I still have a way to go (I would like to lose another 15 pounds or so) but the difference is tremendous already. As a healthcare professional that counsels women (&men) on the benefits of living at a healthy weight daily, I knew what to do and I knew what my downfalls were. The motivation your book provided plus the practical tips, recipes and encouragement were just what I needed. I feel confident in my new lifestyle eating habits and plan to repeat the elimination phase quarterly to keep on track. I have taken the discovery phase slowly and it has been eye-opening. The spiritual component was also key for me and what a way for you ladies to get the gospel out there and share your faith! I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending your book to patients and my over 45 friends and have done so already. Thank you, thank you!!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lifestyle with the right perspective.
*by R***D on March 26, 2019*

Our “diet” is our lifestyle of how and what we eat. As a woman over 50 I have struggled with the mid-section weight gain. I was excited to read this book, which I received a pre-release copy from waterbrookmultnomah. (Thank you for that advance copy!). I haven’t fully implemented all the strategies of this lifestyle. There are several elements of this lifestyle that I agree with 100% and are important factors in our lives. The first and most important to me is the power of self-talk and changing our thought process and gaining victory in our minds. I have read and seen scans of our brains and how our thoughts play such an important role in our lives. Our thoughts affect our attitude, our responses to others, how we feel, how we perceive ourselves and the world around us. Change happens from the inside our. In my opinion basing this on truth, God’s word, is extremely important and is fundamental. Danna and Robyn also discuss intermittent fasting and cutting certain foods for a short period while you go through an elimination phase. There are three levels to choose from. 😀 After the elimination phase you move to the discovery phase where you start introducing foods one at a time back into your diet to see how your body reacts. The last phase is a lifestyle phase. As I mentioned above, I haven’t made it very far and I’m still in the elimination phase. During the pre-release of this book I was able to interact on a coaching call. I can tell you that Danna and Robyn really care about people and want to truly help them achieve their goals and succeed. There were some basic things I learned that to some they might already know. I’m looking forward to seeing my results as I continue to implement this lifestyle. They also have recipes, I made an egg one this morning and served it to some guests and everyone enjoyed! I’m going to make one of their sweet treats after I finish this review!
