I bought this product despite the reviews saying it won't fit a 4runner. Even the product description says it won't fit large vehicles and it includes the 4runner in the list. I own a 2010 4runner SR5 with a third row. The center headrest was in the way at its lowered state, but I lifted it up a little and voila, it fits perfectly. As for the width, the clamps still have room to expand so even for a car with headrests wider than a 4runner I'd think this product would work. The rods also have more room to expand. I could not find this information anywhere, including the product description, which would have helped me buy this product in the first place so I will include it here; The maximum width the clamps can reach is 33 inches, so if the inside rods of your headrests are 33 inches apart, this product should fit your vehicle (from a width perspective). The minimum width is 19.5 inches. Pros: -Installed in minutes (vs ANOTHER product I tried before which cost me a few hours to assemble and try to install with no luck) -Sturdy in place, there are no noises when I travel. If I hit a big pothole, the rod tips would touch the car's walls, but I can always retract them a bit so this is a non-issue, just a bit extra explanation. -I took 2 trips already with my 2 pups (70 lbs, 100 lbs) safely in the cargo area and the product did its job Cons: -Product description says it doesn't fit a 4runner which is MISINFORMING. Instead, they should include the min and max width between inner headrest rods. Had they included this information, I would not have bought another product before and wasted hours assembling and trying to fit into my car.

This works as advertised. As in, it would work perfectly between the back seat and the trunk of almost any car. (Subaru Impreza hatchback) However, I wanted this to create a barrier between the front seats and the back seats for my dog who enjoys putting her paws on the center console. For this application, this barrier lacks a lower piece that keeps a small dog, or really clingy large dog, from squeezing under the bottom bar. I will have to purchase a separate barrier for that or create something myself, maybe using some zip ties and a large scarf hanger. My 55 lb dog was able to crawl under the bottom bar and over the backseat hammock into the front seat when I parked my car. A smaller dog would easily be able to crawl under the bottom bar in a moving car. All that being said, this product is not intended to be used behind the front seats so I can't fault it for not serving that function perfectly. I do wish there was an optional attachment that you could purchase for the center console that is also made of these metal bars rather than the mesh options that come up when you search for it. Overall, the product came intact, was easy to install, and seems like it will be easy to take off. My tip for installation would be to adjust the seats first. Make sure they are the same height and same incline before trying to attach the barrier. It'll make it much easier to get the bars perfectly horizontal.

This works pretty well in my RAV4. Ironically, my own dogs are pretty good about staying in the back and they don't really need it, but i work with a shelter and often need to transport dogs for them and this keeps them in the back. It is pretty sturdy, although if a dog is panicking and really, really, REALLY wants out, they might be able to bend it or something...it is only anchored to the headrests. but for other dogs who just need to be kept in the back of the vehicle it works great. I bought this model in particular for the headrest attachment feature, as a ceiling to floor model would not work with my fold up back seats. I do however wish it was just an inch or two taller; with the top piece extended out, there is still a gap between the unit and the ceiling. a small dog could probably get through. otherwise i like it. it doesn't rattle or shift, and nothing slips or colapses unless you want it to. would recommend the product to others, and thought the price was affordable considering what some of the other ones on the market charge.

I love this pet barrier. This was something that I purchased after being really frustrated with a different kind of barrier that was a total pain to assemble and also just didn't look or work they way I needed it to. This barrier on the contrary requires no assembly at all (a HUGE plus) and it also attaches securely to the back seat headrests. This allows for maximum space in the back. My 100+lb malamute appreciates every extra inch he can get! I absolutely LOVE LOVE this thing, especially after being so disappointed with the other item I had. I own a Honda CR-V, 2014 and it fits great. It looks like it will fit in a wide range of vehicles due to the very adjustable hooks and poles. Could not be happier. Also, when you need to take it out of the car it is an easy 30 second process or losing the hooks and shortening the poles, simple. thank you!!

Does not fit my 2007 Dodge 1500 full size pickup. About 2-3 inches short on bottom bar to fit on head rest posts on my pickup. The description did say fits virtually any car or SUV. My bad for confusing SUV and thinking it would fit my pickup. 3 stars because of manufacturer's description should have made it clear this was not for full size pickup trucks. Seems manufacturer could have a model for full size pickups . . . but I didn't see it if they did. I liked the design . . . so tested it out yesterday (the day it was delivered) by securing the unit using a u-bolt and a strong bungee cord on one of the head rests to keep it upright and prevent rattling. Worked great on a 20 mile round trip run to shop. My 90 pound active pooch stayed in the back while traveling and parked. I might keep the guard anyway . . . but wanted to give this warning.
