BERGEON 8008 Rubber Ball to Open and Close case Backs Ø65 mm, black,white, Open

After seeing so many knock-off versions of these watch case opening balls being sold online, I specifically wanted the authentic Bergeon 8008 Rubber Ball, and I am extremely happy with my purchase. You can immediately tell the difference in quality once you have it in hand. The rubber material is excellent. It is soft, very grippy, and perfectly designed for opening and closing screw-down watch case backs without scratching or damaging the watch. The grip it provides is outstanding and makes removing case backs much easier and safer compared to using metal tools that can easily slip or leave marks behind. It is also the perfect size with a circumference of 65mm. It is easy to hold and use. What really stands out is the overall build quality and feel. This is clearly a genuine Bergeon product made from high-quality materials, not one of the cheaper imitations that tend to lose grip or wear out quickly. It has just the right amount of firmness while still remaining flexible enough to conform to the case back surface for maximum traction. If it gets dusty, simply rinse it off with water and it will regain its tactile grip. As someone who has gotten more involved in watch collecting and basic watch maintenance, this tool is already becoming an essential part of my kit. It works exactly as intended and gives me much more confidence when opening watches. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and can highly recommend the authentic Bergeon 8008 to anyone looking for a reliable, high-quality watch case opening ball. I bought several different case openers in the past most pretty crappy. A while ago I did buy a two pronged one where the prongs slide on a metal rail for adjustment. It is extremely well-made but still made me nervous about opening case backs. Even with Kapton tape as a protective shield in the right places, it would mar the notches a little on some. After watching YouTube for a while and getting re-interested in watches, I saw that almost every watchmaker had a ball and usually this one in particular. I thought $15 was quite a bit for a little ball but once I got it, I laughed at my years of caseback opening stupidity. I haven’t found a case back yet that it can’t open. I haven’t touched any metal devices to my case backs since I got it. Even if you’re not into watches and just own a few for changing batteries and other things, you’ll chuckle at how easy this thing makes case back removal. I can’t believe such a simple thing works so well.

A perfect rubber ball to open the back cases of most watches that I have. It does not work for everything, but it worked for the watch I needed to be opened. thanks.

I paid a lot of money for this ball to say Bergeon on it, so I think it's worth the price. Highly durable, well made ball that makes watch back removal easy.

I had trouble opening an air tag to change out the battery. Tried everything I could find on YT and doc google. Finally I found a rubber ball that usually opens watch battery backs. I looked on Az and decided this one which cost a few bucks more but felt it was not a knockoff. Get it! Great price. Quality ball. And you can open any and all air tags, watch backs, etc. would buy again.

…more expensive than it used to be (almost twice the price). It’s also listed in its description as a five pack, but it is only one ball. The rubber seems thicker than the off brand balls on Amazon (which I’ve also purchased). The plus of that is that it will probably last much longer, but it also isn’t as flexible. So if you squeeze the ball into a point to really put pressure on the case back, it may not squeeze down to so fine an edge, if that makes sense. If you’ve opened up watches with a ball, you’ll know what I mean. It also had a weird grease on its surface when I got it, that I had to wipe off. I sprayed it will a little alcohol, and wiped it off and it was fine. It’s great, but the $12-14 price is more than the $6-8 price it used to be. If you want the name brand that will last forever, this is it.

After gouging an old (thankfully not precious) quartz watch to change the battery, I thought there had to be a better way for a non-expert to open a watch! It's the 8008 to the rescue. When I first received the ball (in a crushed box, thanks to Amazon's habit of shipping boxes in envelopes!) it was pretty weakly inflated. In this state, it simply could not be coaxed to open a watch. After inflating it to a reasonably firm state (with the standard needle valve), it works like a charm. So that is the only gotcha about this great product. Buy it, make sure it is pretty firm, and enjoy not scratching your screw-back watches with metal tools.
