The hard, clear polyurethane wood finish protects wood against water, household chemicals, food stains, and wear.To prepare for application, make sure your surface is dry and free of paint, wax, grease, polish, old finishes, or any foreign matter. Sand to obtain a smooth uniform surface. Shaky poly well. To apply, add a liberal amount of wipe-on poly to a clean, soft cloth and rub the poly into the wood. Let dry for 2-3 hours, then lightly sand with a fine 220 grit sandpaper to ensure an even finish and proper adhesion. Apply additional coats as desired. Review: Beautiful, durable finish & Easy to use - I love this wipe-on polyurethane. I've been using it for 30 years. The round table and chairs, I did 30 years ago and it's still beautiful. I did the stairs from my garage into the house 10 years ago, and despite the heavy use (in and out many times a day with dog), they look the same as the day I did them. It is SO easy to apply, just wipe it on with a soft cloth! Way better than brush marks. And you can lightly buff it with a fine steel wool in between coats, as well as after the final coat if you wish. Three or four coats typically does it for me and it is so easy, takes hardly any time at all. You need to be patient, though, and let it dry thoroughly between coats. This is an awesome product! I just cannot express how much I love it.

**Q: Can i use a brush to apply it? i'm worried about lint from rags. the brush on poly says it is fast drying and i don't want it drying before i'm done.**
A: Wipe On Poly is designed to eliminate brush application. I use a small square of old tee shirt gathered around several cotton balls and tied with a twist tie. Wear a nitrile glove and hold the "daubber" in your had, dip it into a small qty. of the poly and proceed to wipe the surface. Watch the reflection on the surface as you apply the poly to ensure complete coverage. Allow to dry. Lightly sand with 320 grit and reapply. Repeat until you have the desired result.

**Q: What is the difference between the satin and the gloss and which is better for redoing a farmhouse dining set that will be stained a dark walnut?**
A: It’s a matter of your choice of shininess. Both give a beautiful finish. The gloss will provide a harder more durable finish due to absence of the additives that dull the sheen by affecting light refraction. Finish will be dry to the touch within 45 minutes but Not fully cured for 24 hours. You can apply up to 2 more coats if desired. If so, apply additional coats 6-8 hours apart. You can wait longer but will need to scuff sand the top finish to ensure adhesion.

**Q: Can this be used over oil based paint**
A: Yes it can be used over just about any finish as long as its clean and oil free before application,,, use 2 or 3 light coats to cover

**Q: Why does the quart (2 pints) cost more than 2 individual pints?  Shouldn't be the other way around? Just wondering.**
A: buy the two pints, I have been doing that for a while, it is the same product

I love this wipe-on polyurethane. I've been using it for 30 years. The round table and chairs, I did 30 years ago and it's still beautiful. I did the stairs from my garage into the house 10 years ago, and despite the heavy use (in and out many times a day with dog), they look the same as the day I did them. It is SO easy to apply, just wipe it on with a soft cloth! Way better than brush marks. And you can lightly buff it with a fine steel wool in between coats, as well as after the final coat if you wish. Three or four coats typically does it for me and it is so easy, takes hardly any time at all. You need to be patient, though, and let it dry thoroughly between coats. This is an awesome product! I just cannot express how much I love it.
