I have dug over 8,000 holes with this shovel in the hobby of Metal Detecting. I'm a senior citizen and my knees are bad, so I can't get down on the ground and dig with a hand trowel. The Radius Root slayer is the perfect compromise. The narrow fork tongued tip is great for digging small divots to pop out shallow targets, but the shovel widens out at the top and the serrated edges really do slay the roots making it possible to dig deep plugs if need be. The shovel is lightweight yet incredibly strong. I have leaned on it very heavily busting targets out from under large roots. I can't break it. Love the ergonomics of the shovel including the round handle. And I have even dug several perennials to help my wife in her garden and of course it is perfectly designed for that and works great. Reasonably priced and highly recommended!

First off this is an incredibly high quality shovel. I have had some ornamental grass that has grown into a very rocky soil that has been impossible to move, with this shovel I was able to remove about 15 ft of it in about 30 minutes! It's such a pleasure to use that I have been walking around my lawn looking for places to use it hah. I have a lot of small ash trees growing around my property and this shovel makes very quick work of the roots, it's also great for digging up plants like blackberries and other bushes and due to the shape of the shovel it makes it very easy to dig another hole that fits exactly. I am 6'4 and the handle length is perfect, it's incredibly sharp and can even get through Rocky soil and tough roots. If you're already using it to remove dirt around Roots it works great, but if you have a lot of soil to remove I would use another shovel, but it's just wide enough to get the job done. I would highly recommend this to anyone Who does any gardening on a regular basis, it's quickly become my favorite tool!

This shovel is excellent. I tell my gardener friends it’s the best for digging out shrubs like Buckthorn and other densely rooted shrubs, small trees and native grasses. You can rock it to get it into through rooted soil and the jagged shovel edges “saw” the roots as well. It saved my garden shovel that was starting to break from prying out stubborn plants. Being easier to carry around than the two or three shovels it replaces, this has rapidly become my go to. It penetrates packed earth with ease and takes about half as long to dig out stubborn weeds as a sharp shooter. The blade is sharp and very sturdy. I have pushed as hard as I could on it without any sense that the blade or shaft was weakening. A hard stomp will break through roots about a quarter-inch thick. I have not been able to make it work efficiently like a saw as some reviewers have, but for really thick roots an old folding saw is an easy substitute. In addition to cutting roots I like the shovel as a shallow trenching tool, and have used it to prepare the ground to lay out a walkway. Similarly, it works well for very light weeding. It is also an easy way -- being light enough to use one-handed -- to break up packed soil in preparation for planting. I really like the length; it is short and light enough to manipulate while kneeling, and comfortable to use when standing up. I was a bit unsure of the strange looking handle at first, but found the design makes it easier to use one-handed (when, for example you are holding back branches with your other hand). In all, had I known how useful this little tool would be I would have bought one a long time ago.

This quality root slayer is a beast at cutting through roots in your garden, yard, edging or out in the fields or woods while metal detecting! Love it! It’s worth the price and after a season of frequent use, is in great shape so seems to be quite durable.

It's well made but I hate that the end is not not actually a handle. Also, I'm 6 ft. so the handle is too short for me but I'm making it work.

What an excellent metal detector shovel. Very heavy-duty and cuts perfect plugs through sod and heavy grass. Easy to pack and carry around. While it doesn't take away a rating star, I wish there were a version about three inches longer; otherwise, this shovel is perfect.

Très agréablement surpris par l'efficacité de cette bêche. Elle me sert pour enlever les souches de gros tuyas qui sont morts. Elle se plante facilement et coupe les racines. En complément avec une pioche, une scie, j'arrive à sortir la souche. Cette bêche est très solide et le manche est très agréable

Brilliant, slightly smaller and lighter than normal Rootslayer, very manageable but has a knob handle not the normal ring type, perhaps difficult for man with large hands.

Voor de metaaldetector, zeer sterke en scherpe schop. Met de lengte van 76cm sleept hij ook niet over de grond bij het lopen. Aanrader!
