I didn't even notice the usual driver installation pop-up. Didn't have to use the included mini-cd or anything else. Just plugged it into a USB3 port and was online in 5 seconds.As far as speeds go, it's not the fastest but the product doesn't claim to be the fastest. It travels approximately 80' through 4 thick walls & 2 doors with no problem. For the price, I highly recommend this unit. We haven't experienced the Ohio winter yet, but so far I feel very hopeful since it's in a sheltered location.
