It's plastic. I bought two of these and both were really hard to turn. So I lubed the threads with silicone greese. Still thought to turn. Used once. Fine, increased the cap again to take out light bulb and let it site for 3 months, replaced battery and screwed in an notice.o e of the three nitrile gaskets that I lubed was broken. So I have to repair the gasket. Maybe the gasket was too big? I don't know. Keep in mind to use it you have to screw in the lens capall the way for the light to turn on, and then unscrew a little to turn off. The 18650 battery was Chinese, I replaced with good ones.
